HISTORY

HOTEL IZABEL - ALEXANDRA
(Vânatorul)
str. Cumpatul nr. 26
2180 SINAIA - ROMANIA

The main building was used as a hotel and a restaurant for 50 years and was managed by the Division of heritage and the protocol of the State.

The building which belonged to our family ever since it had been built in late 30's , had been confiscated by the communist State in 1949. It had been used as a hotel, as well as meeting rooms and a restaurant since then and exclusively meant for the privileged people. The building was renovated and altered in 1987.
But the former occupants left it in a very bad shape.

The building is located in
Sinaia, the former summer residence of Romanian kings, 127 km from Bucharest.
Sinaia's name comes from Mount Sinai : in 1695 an eminent Valachian dignitary, named Mihai Cantacuzino, after a pilgrimage to the Holly Land, decided to found a monastery dedicated to the Virgin Marry.
This resort wich is at an altitude of 800 m, located in beautiful natural surroundings, at the bottom of Bucegi mountains (maximum elevation 2505 m). Nature has been well protected and the signposted mountain path enable you to go on memorable hikes for one day or more. You can also go fishing and haunting, and you even stand a goood chance of catching sights of bears, as there are still some in the surroundings mountains.
As to winter sports, there are severals ski runs with ski tows as well as a bobsleigh track.
